What is Corian® made from, and how durable is it?
Corian® is a solid surface material made from roughly one third acrylic resin and two thirds natural minerals. This gives it strong impact resistance and a non-porous surface that resists mould, bacteria, and mildew. Because it’s is solid all the way through, minor scratches and damage can usually be sanded out and repaired on site, extending the working life of your finished installation.
Can Corian® be used for more than worktops?
Yes. While Corian®’s seamless jointing and ability to be thermoformed make it suitable for feature walls, reception desks, cladding, integrated sinks, coved upstands, and bespoke architectural finishes. The material can also be fabricated into complex 3D and curved forms using parametric design techniques, which makes it a practical choice for statement interior and exterior surfaces.
What does the Corian® fabrication process involve?
Fabrication begins with a design and measurement stage, followed by cutting, shaping and joining sheets in a workshop before being installed on-site. Joints are bonded and sanded so the finished surface appears continuous with no visible seams. Because Cornerstone Fitout is a certified and trained Corian® fabricator, the process is carried out to the manufacturer’s specified standards.
Is Corian® covered by a guarantee?
Corian® installations completed by certified fabricators are typically backed by a manufacturer warranty. You should confirm the exact warranty terms, coverage, and what is required to keep it valid before your project begins, as cover usually depends on the work being completed.
