What’s the difference between a commercial fit out and a refurbishment?
A fit out builds out a new or empty space while a refurbishment updates a space that’s already used.
Do I need planning permission for a commercial fit out?
In most cases no, your commercial fit out won’t need planning permission but if you lease the space you’ll likely need to get your landlord’s permission to make any changes to the space and possibly also building control sign-off for spaces like restaurants and gyms.
What is a commercial fit out?
A commercial fit out is the work that turns an empty space into a usable one that your business can work from. Fit out work includes installations like partitions, ceilings, flooring, lighting, mechanical and electrical services, as well as joinery, finishes and furniture.
